Little update: 2 weeks until race day
I am two weeks out from my triathlon and to say I am getting excited is an understatement.
Today I had a 70 min ride and 20 min run on the schedule, and I was supposed to do it at race pace. This was my third time on my bike and it went really smooth. I was able to go faster than I have yet on the bike, getting up towards 18 mph at times. It just felt awesome to move that fast, I felt like I was flying.
After the ride I headed right out on the run and I still cannot get over how weird it feels to run after riding. Mainly that whole feeling of running through molasses. Because I found myself yet again just crushing the pace (for me) and feeling really awesome. I finished 2 miles in 17 min 25 seconds. This blows my mind. When I was running previously I would have be thrilled for a 10 minute mile. I 100% know that it is strength training and cycling that has helped my running tremendously. The turn over of the pedals when riding really feels like it helped my running, because I noticed the change when I ran back in November after cycling for a month (and I wasn't strength training at that time).
Right now something that I really am trying to figure out is if I am eating what I need to to fuel my body. Everyone knows I love WW and so much of the program is exactly what I need. But I am realizing that it feels like there are not resources or enough information for those who are maintaining weight and very active. So I need to strike out a bit on my own to figure this out. I really don't want to do things like count grams of protein but maybe that will be what it comes down to.
Lastly, while I definitely am excited and anticipating my race in 2 weeks, I am also starting to think a bit about what comes next. For a period of time I thought that I would try for my 70.3 next summer, but more and more I am thinking that I want to give myself a bit more time. More time to explore longer races on my bike, and longer runs...things like century rides (100 miles) and getting back to half marathons, maybe a marathon. So thinking I will use these next couple of years to do that, really better preparing myself for 70.3. Doing this will give me time to figure out how to incorporate more training into my life, learn more about nutrition, and overall build my confidence on the bike and swimming longer distances. So sometime soon I will be laying out a plan for probably 2022/2023 of Spring and Fall events that I will work towards. Thinking fall will be triathlon so I have the summer to swim, and Spring will be running events. So I am pretty excited to plan this :)
Thats really all for now. If I don't write between now and then, I most certainly will write after my triathlon!!!
Oh also...Sparty <3
