Stepping away from the bike, the tread, the scale
This week I took 3 days off from the bike and tread, and when I got back to it on Thursday I literally crushed my workouts. I PRed my run on Thursday, my 30 min ride Friday, and my 45 minute ride on Saturday. Turns out take a break every once in awhile is a good thing ;-). I will probably incorporate in these weeks every couple of months or so, depending on what I am doing.
So, be prepared to see all my learning and practice with that haha.
I also took a step away from scale. Even after reaching lifetime I still have weighed in weekly. I just am realizing though that sometimes it really messes with my head. And so this week I skipped it. It was not my best week food wise but I also just kind of felt like I needed to let a bit loose for a bit. And so here we are, a new week and I am feeling focused and ready to go.
You can guess than that I did not get my 6/7 blue dots last week haha. Maybe it will be time to just retire that intention in April, and just keep the focus on ensuring I maintain a healthy weight.
Screen time was about the same, 3.5 hours a day. This is down from the 4 I was averaging, so is still in the right direction. Last week of the month, so I will continue to keep this focus. This past week I started re-reading the Hunger Games series which has been great. I also bought pens and a modern calligraphy workbook which should come this week sometime. I have watched lettering videos with awe for several years now, so I am finally deciding to give it a try.
Here is an example of what I mean: Artwork is @calligraphywithpersephone on IG
Today I rode 2.5 hours, just over 41 miles. Steady eddy and right on pace for training. Followed by a 10 minute cool down run. I ran for about 5 of it and then walked. Kind of a brick workout...I will probably do a better one next weekend. We will see.
Last but not least, and most of you already know this, I hit my first deer on Tuesday. It was incredibly scary but I am fine. The dogs were in the car because we were heading to daycare, and they are fine. We have a seat cover that keeps them pretty contained, so they didn't fall or anything really when we hit. I was most nervous about being on the side of the highway with them in the car, and needing to get them to Shane's car. But that went fine too. Now I am waiting to learn the fate of my car, and if it will be totaled or not. I love my car a lot. But there is part of me that just wants it totaled because I know that if they don't total it, it was borderline, so the repairs will be incredibly extensive and the accident being on the car's record will really hurt the value long term. Plus, I do love a new car. So we will see what happens.
Keep on trucking seester! 🙌🏻
