#WWPelotonCrew
Many of you know that I LOVEEEE a good community. I gravitate towards them in so many ways. To explain a bit more, Frank Turner fans are pretty...INTENSE. We LOVEEEE Frank and his music, and each other. There is a facebook group called Frank Turner Army that is made up of fans, and the support for each other is just astounding. I have made and met friends via this group, meeting people before the Chicago show, and had plans to see many of those faces at Lost Evenings (before COVID brought the world to a stop). There is something powerful about people coming together united in some way, and music certainly is a powerful uniter. I just thrive in those types of environment. The community feeling I am describing is sometimes what brings people to religion or church, because there is unity and support, I just find it in different places.
Two places where I have found this (in addition to the FTA) is the WW community, and the Peloton community. There is a happy little place on the WW social media (Connect is what it is called) where these two places come together into the Peloton Lovers Connect group. And I have to tell you, this is a powerful group of people. Each Saturday at 8am EST we ride together on a 45 minute ride, and the joy, support, and friendly competition is amazing. Typically there around about 20-30 people, and then another 20-30 ride at 8AM PST. I 100% credit this weekly ride with pushing me outside my comfort zone, because I had never done a 45 minute ride until I decided to try it with this crew in November. And I had never done a Power Zone ride until I decided to try it with this crew (#wwpelotoncrew).
We also have monthly challenges surrounding strength or trying new things. Most recently the strength has been focused on upper body. These challenges helped me gain consistency in my strength workouts and find a real love for seeing my body change as a result. This group also got me going on Crush Your Core with Emma Lovewell, which I have completed twice now. No one has seen this except Pam, but why not put it on the internet for all 10 of you to see (because based on the stats I can see for the blog, I don't think anyone else is stumbling across this and that is AOK haha)
Most recently, I connected with a member named Lisa, and we discovered we typically work out at the same time, so we decided to start coordinating our workouts. We post on the weekends with a general outline, then fill in the specifics in a few messages, and then several days a week at 6:15 AM (we are moving to 6:10 next week), we start our classes at the same time, and work out "together". We exchange "high fives" the whole time, and there is just something powerful about knowing someone is with you in the journey.
As you can hopefully feel in my words, this connection within the WW Peloton Lovers community has made a profound difference in me, my dedication, my focus, my support system. And I am forever grateful for it. On the flip side, leadership and inspiring others is something that I also want to do. For me, what I do in my daily job is inspire managers to be the best they can be for their team and the members (plus all that fun operations stuff that comes with the territory). And on the fitness side, I post about my journey because I want people to know what is possible, and maybe think about and take action on what they want to do but didn't think they could. And so when I do get little cues that I am making that difference, it just fuels the fire to keep going and keep pushing. It helps push down the little thoughts of wondering if people think I am nutty or full of myself or bragging, because even if some people think that, thats okay, thats their choice. But when others feel fueled and inspired by what I do, that is worth it.
- Real rest day: Monday again (last Monday)
- Blue Dots 6/7 days: I got 5/7 again. I'll keep at it.
- Endurance - working towards 120 by end of the month: 75 minute ride yesterday followed by a 15 minute run, for 90 minutes total
- Strength (120ish min is the aim): 190 minutes of strength this week
You are a force of nature. I think I've always been seeking a community where I belong as well, and never thought to turn to something that wasn't based around my like "obvious" identifiers. This is helping me take a serious look at finding something that will light the spark (rather roaring flame now) that I see in you. Keep up the excellent work!
