Stepping away from the bike, the tread, the scale

Image
This week I took 3 days off from the bike and tread, and when I got back to it on Thursday I literally crushed my workouts. I PRed my run on Thursday, my 30 min ride Friday, and my 45 minute ride on Saturday. Turns out take a break every once in awhile is a good thing ;-). I will probably incorporate in these weeks every couple of months or so, depending on what I am doing.  I also took a step away from scale. Even after reaching lifetime I still have weighed in weekly. I just am realizing though that sometimes it really messes with my head. And so this week I skipped it. It was not my best week food wise but I also just kind of felt like I needed to let a bit loose for a bit. And so here we are, a new week and I am feeling focused and ready to go.  You can guess than that I did not get my 6/7 blue dots last week haha. Maybe it will be time to just retire that intention in April, and just keep the focus on ensuring I maintain a healthy weight.  Screen time was about the s...

Don't Doubt Yourself.

This past week I've been in a bit of a mood, without knowing exactly why. Yesterday Pam helped me work through that some, and so I wanted to hit the high points of it in this post, and then move on. I want to share with you all because you are the people who love me and support me, and so sharing is a way of asking for your help. 1. Fear of going backwards: I got to my goal weight, and where I am today, basically in a bubble. A bubble with no going out to eat, a bubble with minimal vacations, a bubble with LOTS of time to work out, cook, meal plan. And while I cannot even express how happy I am that there is light at the end of the COVID tunnel, for me there is also fear. Not fear of COVID. Ive been out in the world consistently this entire time because its my job to be. I know how to be safe. Its fear of how to maintain where I am in my health, when not in a bubble. When I am not in my controlled environment, how do I fair? Do I eat 1 cookie or 6? Do I prioritize my workouts or s...

Brick PR / Exploring running paces

Today I did one of the two brick workouts I have planned for "Steady Sunday". After 90 minutes on the bike with Matt Wilpers, I swapped over to the tread and chose a 20 minute 90s run with Becs Gentry. The run started off with Intergalactic by Beastie Boys. Something about that song at the moment just got the run started right, and I ended up PRing my run! I am still new to my Tread+, and still figuring out my running abilities, so it is exciting to have these moments where I learn that I am stronger than I think I am. Something similar happened earlier this week when I did my first intervals run. The run had intervals at 1/2 marathon, fast run, tempo, 5k, and 1 mile pace. The idea is you run at your pace for those different races for a set period of time. Seeing as I haven't run any of those races recently, I have no idea what my paces are, so I was mostly winging it. You know I am aiming for a 5k in under 30 minutes, so I used that mainly as my base. Here is what I did:...
